Fourth Birthday

For your 4-year-old child's birthday, surprise him or her with a day in the country birthday party. Choose invitations with farm theme with cows, barn, and horses and ask kids to wear their favorite overalls or blue jeans if they do not have any overalls. Either rent one or use your own flat bed trailer and fill the trailer up with hay to have a hayride around your neighborhood. Have country themed games to play such as a watermelon eating contest or see who can knock over the most bottles with a (plastic) baseball. Have a bobbing for apples contest and a one legged race. Get a couple of fishing polls and attach a ring to the end of the fishing line; place a bottle on its side on a wooden board and have the children stand away from the bottle and try to get it to stand up on the wooden board.

Set up a kiddies’ snack table covered with burlap and place various bowls with two-year-old finger foods: goldfish, marshmallows, pretzels, and cheetos. Keep the food simple: think hotdogs, hamburgers, and chips. Have galvanized buckets with box drinks, water and cokes in them. Your cake should also go along with the farm theme, so be sure to have a cow, a farmer, some overalls and maybe even a barn. Give the kids straw hats for favors.
