Second Birthday
Your baby's second birthday party will probably be a little bit bigger than his or her first birthday party but more simple party than the older children's parties. A good idea for a two-year-old child's birthday party would be a beach birthday party. Be sure to include what these little ones love the most: food, dirt, and water. For the invitation, look for a beach theme and be sure to ask his or her little friends to bring their swimsuit and beach towel. I know you are thinking this is going to be elaborate, but it really does not have to be. Get a blow up pool as most of the guests probably can not swim. Have your husband or some other willing body to get a few bags of sand at your local outdoor store and make a mini ‘beach’ next to your pool. Fill the 'beach' with all kinds of sand toys like buckets and shovels; you get the picture. What is even easier, if you have a sandbox already then put your pool next to your sandbox. Get a couple bubble machines; not the big ones but the cheap ones that you get at the toy store, and have them going throughout the party. Also, do not forget to have several beach balls out for the kids to play with.
For the decorations, look for three sand buckets at the dollar
store and use these for your centerpieces. For the middle sand
bucket, fill it with sand, a shovel, sunglasses, and a few shells.
The sand buckets on either side of the center sand bucket should be
filled with a lot of wild flowers.
Food should be kept simple: hamburgers, hotdogs, chips. For the
littlest ones, have small colorful bowls of finger food that they
love the most: cheetos, marshmallows, pretzels. Have galvanized
buckets with box drinks and push up popsicles in them.
Have an ice cream bar to cool things off. You really only need two
flavors of ice cream and lots of toppings like sprinkles, crushed
cookies, candies, and whipped topping.
Your cake should also be adorned with the beach theme, so be sure
to have a few beach balls, umbrellas, you get the idea.
